What is Odissi

A dance carved from temple stone

One of India's oldest classical dance forms, born in the temples of Odisha. Every posture echoes ancient stone — the tribhanga curve, the precise feet, the eloquent hands.

At NrityaTara it is passed on the old way: guru to student, with patience and care.

What a dancer gains

  • Grounding in authentic Odissi technique and repertoire
  • Grace, posture, strength, and discipline
  • Connection to Indian heritage and storytelling
  • Regular stage performances and recitals
  • A warm, supportive community of dancers
